With just over a week remaining until the 2010 John Treacy Classic, which takes place in Villierstown on Sunday 16th May, anticipation is really building up to what should be another great day in the village of one of the County’s greatest sporting heroes-John Treacy. A reminder that pre entry for this event will close on Friday 7th May, so get those entries in today to avoid queuing to register on the day!
There are now just under three weeks remaining until participants in the 2010 John Treacy Classic toe the start line in Villierstown on Sunday 16th May. This year there is an even greater choice of route beginning with the 1k Fun Run which is well and truly aimed at those young, budding athletes out there. Walkers and runners may choose to opt for 5k Fun Run/Walk and finally you may wish to challenge yourself over the testing 10 Mile route. The village of Villierstown is preparing itself for almost 1000 visitors right across the three routes on the day and with the great John Treacy leading the charge it will surely be a sight to behold!
With just under 4 weeks to go and entries for the second edition of the John Treacy Classic are now beginning to roll in, it’s time to get the trainers out and get ready to run with one of County Waterford’s living legends! Remember you don’t have to be a thoroughbred athlete to be part of the fun as there is a route and a distance to suit all abilities. Many club runners will once again want to test their mettle over a tough 10 Mile course and maybe improve on their 2009 time. The 5k is once again making an appearance this year and is suited to all those who occasionally run, jog or walk and is ideal to act as a spring board towards getting fit for the summer ahead. 2010 also sees the introduction of an all new 1k route which is sure to be a big hit, particularly with younger children who may someday emulate the achievements of the great man from Villierstown!
